General Manager, Sea to Sky Gondola
Kirby has worked in tourism since the age of 14. He arrived in Whistler within days of finishing a BCOMM in 1993 to snowboard and worked in a variety of roles before becoming a senior manager at Whistler Blackcomb in 1999. In 2007 Kirby became the President and COO of Panorama Mountain Village and negotiated the sale of the resort to local owners in 2010.
After several years focused on supporting social ventures including a CEO position with a 100% raw, vegan food company in Vancouver, he returned to tourism as the CEO of The Adventure Group, a Whistler based adventure company and launched Superfly Ziplines. In 2015 Kirby moved to Squamish to proudly join Sea to Sky Gondola as the General Manager.
He currently serves as the Chair of Tourism Squamish, sits on the board of the Squamish Sustainability Corporation and the Granting Committee of Community Futures. Outside of work Kirby spends time on his passion project, Playground Builders. Founded in 2007, this little Canadian charity has built over 220 playgrounds in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Palestinian Territories bringing safe play to over one million children daily.
