Sonu is a communications and marketing professional with more than a decade of experience leading multifaceted projects, captivating campaigns and strategic corporate communications for destination marketing organizations, corporate and government organizations, and tourism businesses.
As an independent consultant, Sonu’s expansive portfolio includes strategy and execution of film tourism marketing in Vancouver, with an emphasis on collaborations with studios like Walt Disney Co., Paramount Studios, Netflix and Universal Pictures to promote popular movies and TV shows filmed in the city; previous projects have included Deadpool, Disney’s Descendants, Fifty Shades of Grey and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She also organizes screenings and premiere events for cast, crew, media and various stakeholders; writes and sources content for Tourism Vancouver’s dedicated film website; meets with major studios in Los Angeles on an annual basis to forge relationships and pitch ideas for upcoming titles; and leads quarterly meetings of Vancouver’s Film Tourism Working Group, which is comprised of key members of BC’s film industry.
Outside of film tourism, Sonu oversees corporate communications for several organizations, produces content for public relations agencies and their clients, and designs and executes media and public relations plans. To balance her busy workload, she does a lot of yoga and drinks a lot of cocktails.
